In 1978, when Dan Alsberg was a lecturer in jewelry design at Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem, he was invited by the East Jerusalem Development Co. on behalf of the Jerusalem municipality to open a studio for hand-crafted silver and gold jewelry in Hutzot Hayotzer, the Artists Lane situated on the sloping hillside across from the walls of Jerusalem's Old City.

Since that time the studio has developed and grown, but its basic guiding principles remain the same. Each item starts with a sketch, then the alloy is prepared, the gold or silver ingot is cast, the sheets are rolled out, the wires and tubes are stretched. Now the piece of jewelry is ready to be crafted and inset with precious stones or other objects such as titanium or ancient coins. All stages of the work are carried out in the studio, ensuring that the quality of the work is of the highest.

The precious stones are chosen by Dan Alsberg himself, to be cut and polished by stonecutters who are among the finest in the world.

Studio Alsberg has clients from over 34 countries around the world - presidents and politicians, artists and movie stars, members of the nobility and royal families.
